Character Information
Character Name: Otabek Altin
Canon: Yuri!!! On Ice
Canon Point: Post season one.
History: Wiki description of his background - the only correction to make here is that the official site lists him as currently 18. And here is a summary of what happens to him during canon.

Personality:

Under the scrutiny of the media, and even to those in his private life, Otabek comes across as a very stoic individual. He’s very serious about what he does professionally, and this attitude is consistent in all parts of his life. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that most people who meet Otabek think the guy needs to loosen up a little. He’s very reserved and reticent; he declines invitations from other skaters to hang out, and Viktor comments that he seems to be generally uninterested in socialising with them.

However, this is not due to a sense of superiority or feelings of dislike towards his peers. He’s actually just very shy, and socially awkward. The friends he has back home are described as being ‘mischievous’, supporting the idea that Otabek struggles to make friends with those as quiet and aloof as himself - he needs people like that to balance him out.

His attitude, taste in clothing and motorbike have given him a bit of a bad boy image, and although this may hold on a superficial level, Otabek proves himself to be a kind and supportive person where it counts. For example, he applauds Yuuri K and Victor’s engagement where most of the table doesn’t, and is shown to make a point of cheering Yuri P on during the GPF.

Otabek is a very loyal person. A lot of his motivations stem from the loyalty he feels towards his home country, where he is very popular and regarded as a hero. He wants to make them proud, and strives with determination towards that end. This same determination had him remembering and seeking out Yuri five years after they met and asking him bluntly to be his friend. He tells Yuri he remembered him because of his ‘soldiers eyes’, suggesting that he admires strength and resolve in others.

He is a very blunt speaker. He’s honest, but not totally insensitive to the feelings of others. Each word Otabek speaks is considered, but earnest and straightforward. Most of the time though, he’s quiet and prefers to let others do the talking. In contrast with this, his skating is very expressive, betraying a side to him that most don’t get to see off the ice. This more emotional and animated side of him is further evidenced by his inner monologue during his GPF performance, which is a very lively and passionate speech. He isn’t devoid of emotion on the inside, he just comes across that way. In truth, he feels a great deal and admires those who aren't afraid to act on and be honest about their own feelings.

When it comes to his own limitations, Otabek is very aware of and smart about them. He doesn’t sulk about what he can’t do or allow himself to linger on regrets, but rather strives to improve in the areas he is good at. He’s very hardworking and dedicated, but also sensible. Possibly even to a fault; it wouldn't hurt him to try new things once in a while. He also has a rather dry sense of humor.

Otabek is seen at the GPF holding a teddy bear from one of his fans, which is apparently something he receives often. He has a secret soft spot for cute things, and deeply appreciates and is thankful for those who support him. Good food is another thing that can break his stone face.

Items on your character at canon point: His phone, and the keys to his bike. Earphones and an iPod.

Abilities: Otabek has no supernatural abilities. Regular old human here! He speaks Kazakh, Russian, and English. He’s a very skilled figure skater, and due to his training & fitness regime, he’s very physically fit and strong. He’s also a professional DJ.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Level-headed; given the time, Otabek is good at thinking things through, rather than rushing in blindly.
+ Determined; once he has a goal, he focuses on it and gives it his all.
+ Good reflexes; he can react quickly and calmly, shifting aside panic for later.
+ Physically strong & fit; could handle running long distances or lifting a heavy weight.
+ Mentally strong; he isn’t one to succumb easily to pressure, as his nerve-free performance at the GPF proves.
- Loner; he tends to isolate himself from others.
- Internalizes; it’s a good thing he doesn’t feel a lot of pressure (although ice skating is one thing and murder is, uh, another), because if he ever did, he’d bottle it up until he exploded.
- Socially awkward; his often expressionless or resting bitch face can be off-putting, and he rarely opens up.
- Stubborn; it’s difficult to change his mind or make him budge on something.

[The pamphlet is barely given so much as a glance before he shoves it back in his pocket. Is this some kind of prank gone too far, or a legitimate kidnapping?

It doesn't really matter, because either way, Otabek's sights zero in on the door. He's striding towards it when two things happen rather quickly at once: he's stopped in his tracks by a particularly painful twist in his stomach, and the words crawl their way across his skin.

He stares at them grimly, face betraying none of the confusion or fear he feels. Even his pain is only evident in the way his nails are digging into his palm. He tries once again to approach the exit, this time stepping close enough to set a hand on the door. He barely chokes back the vomit crawling it's way up his throat, and steps several paces back quickly. Alright, then. So we're not leaving.

Otabek turns to whoever is closest, and between the tight knit eyebrows and deep voice, makes a rather imposing figure as he asks brusquely;]
